Puppy Classes

This course is suitable for pups aged 12 weeks to 6 months old. This time in your dog's life is most useful for teaching manners, creating boundaries, familiarisation and the beginning of obedience training. We aim to create a safe, happy environment for you and your new pup to learn in and have fun. Pups must be vaccinated in order to attend this course. (see an example of the timetable below)

Basic Classes

This course is for dogs aged 6 months and over. For dogs that have missed the opportunity of training classes while young puppies, we aim to put in place basic commands and manners that will help your dog be a welcome member of society. All dogs must be fully vaccinated in order to attend this course.

Intermediate Class

This course is for customers that have completed the Standish Dog Trainer Basic Obedience Course and want to expand their existing skills. We concentrate on the dogs focus on owner, take existing skills to the next level and learn new more advanced skills. (see an example of the timetable below)

Click here to see some photos of what we got up to in previous classes. Feel free to drop in for 5 minutes to have a look at what we get up to.

Please note, your dog must be fully vaccinated in order to attend theses classes.

What We Get Up To...

The training methods that we will use are all reward based. We will use praise, food treats and positive reinforcement to show your puppies what behaviour is required of them.  At Standish Dog Trainer we use the TLC -  Think Like Canine method of dog training - to help owners understand how dogs learn and communicate, this enables owners to work with their dogs more effectively.

Class sizes are kept small enabling your puppy to socialise without being overwhelmed. This will also mean that there is enough one to one time with the instructor and that you are not left sitting for ages waiting for your turn.

Come armed with your collar, lead, a bag of tasty treats and some poo bags (just in case).  I look forward to meeting you and your puppy soon.
